CHRISTMAS 2011

We had a wonderful Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve first with my sister and brother in law and my uncle. Then we went on to the Corry's house where we met up with friends from times gone past. On Christmas day we had lunch with my fabulous kids and Uncle Ron then we went over to Ashwood where we had dinner with the Vittorio family.
It is always good to get to see all our family and friends during this most festive occasion. Here at Vittorio Park wish you all:

How the garden had grown

SPRING IS HERE
WHAT A MESS!

As it was so often wet over the winter we did not get a chance to get into the garden. By springtime everthing was well over grown. I commenced my gardening with a small project.
Getting the vegi garden back into order. It took me two days to get one garden bed cleaned out. Ang helped me empty the compost bin into the new patch plus he cleaned out a second garden bed. Today he planted some vegetables.

The garden has bloomed. There are tons of lemons, limes and mandarines in the tree. This year's mandarines are sweet and juicy. My blossom tree looks gorgeous as usual.

Mulching The Garden

This weekend was set aside for everyone to help join in and mulch our garden. The weather was just fabulous. We had 8cubic metres of mulch delivered on Friday. Ang and I did last minute preparation of the garden bed. (weeding) and it was then just a matter of gathering everyone and try to get the job done as quickly as possible. Jake, Dale Paul and even Kim helped us. It was great! By 2pm we had all but one small bed covered in mulch ready for summer. The reason the small bed wasn't completed because it was heavily weeded and needed a bit of attention. I said I'll do it next weekend. We finished the day with a sausage sizzle. We were all a bit fagged by the end but the garden looks great.
Thanks everyone!

Eastlink Walk

The Eastlink freeway is about to open any week now. As usual the people in charge always arranges for the public to get a closer look at the new construction and we were able to walk the tunnel. So on Sunday bright and early we set out on our little adventure. We were quite surprised as to how many other people decided to walk through the tunnel. We went in the morning there were about 20,000 people then. By the finish of the day over 100.00 people had made their way through the tunnel.

A very nice man asked us if we would like our picture taken.

At the entrace to each tunnel are these enoumous structures. The tunnels are named Melba and Mullum Mullum. Each tunnel is 1.6km long. Besides walking the tunnel they had a few other attractions along the way. Performers, school bands and food stalls of course. There were a variety of information tents you could wander in and out of. They also had a fun run on the freeway and a bike run of which our good friends Charmaine and Ron took part in. Aparently for the first month it is free to trvel along the freeway after that it becomes a tollway.

Ang's Surprise 60th

It was Ang's 60th birthday last Wednesday. He didn't want to have a party and was just happy to have his kids over for dinner. Which is what we did. However unbeknown to Ang we decided that you can't turn 60 without a reasonable gathering. We booked the restaurant 1912 at Riverlea Winery and invited our close family for lunch but kept it a secret from Ang. Ron our best friend told Ang he had a great promotional deal at Riverlea, a 3 course meal plus drinks for $20. Well Ang couldn't pass up a great deal like that.

He tried to tell Ron that he was going the wrong way. We entered through the front gates and parked were VIP guests park. All our invited guests entered through the back gates parking at the back of the restaurant.

As Ang entered the restaurant there was a resounding "SURPRISE!!!" sung by all the guests inside. Ang was quite shocked and a little overwelmed.

It was a delightful lunch. We had the restaurant all to ourselves. The atmoshere was enhanced by the open fire and the candles burning on the tables and its sheer cosyness. Food and wine was good and everyone had a great day.

Jacob and Kim even gave a speech.

After lunch everyone came back to our home where the party continued. At this stage I'm not sure how it went as I was rather pickled myself. Looking at the photos though it seemed we all had a good day especially Ang.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANG!

Adam and Izabella's Wedding

Adam and Izabella were married on the 10th of May. It was a beautiful wedding and the bride looked stunning. The wedding and the reception was held at the Park Hyett Hotel and apart from a few drops of rain the ceremony went well. Pictured above is Adam and Izabella listening to Rebecca (Adam's sister) do a reading. Ben's father was the minister for the day and they had Harry and Izabella's niece as the page boy and flower girl. The ceremony was in the courtyard of the hotel and as you can see a little of the backdrop it was quite a nice courtyard.
The reception was good but the music and noise level of the guests were a little loud.
Overall we had a great time. As usual Luke couldn't make it.
Ang and I stayed at the RACV City club so we had a great weekend as well.
